Notice Abstract

Highways England is looking for a suitable contractor to provide and undertake all routine and response maintenance, incident response, defect rectification and severe weather delivery on the all-purpose trunk roads and motorways within the Yorkshire and Humber regions (Highways England Area 12). Additional duties will also include maintenance of roadside technology, the provision of traffic management for the contractor's maintenance and response activities (including traffic management) during incidents and where instructed by Highways England and the maintenance of depots. Under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 the contractor will be principal contractor for all work they undertake and where/if instructed otherwise by the service manager.

The successful tenderer will be required to provide all routine and response maintenance, incident response, defect rectification (when instructed by Highways England) and severe weather delivery on the all-purpose trunk roads and motorways within Highways England Yorkshire and Humber regions (Highways England Area 12) in accordance to Highways England standards and objectives. Additional duties will also include maintenance of roadside technology, the provision of traffic management for the contractor's maintenance and response activities (including traffic management) during incidents and where instructed by Highways England and the maintenance of depots. Under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 the contractor will be principal contractor for all work they undertake and where/if instructed otherwise by the service manager. Highways England may consider amending the duties listed above and may remove or amend these as appropriate during the contract period.

The service period for the maintenance and response contract is for a duration of 8 years, and the successful provider will be expected to operate collaboratively with other service providers and stakeholders in order to achieve Highways England's objectives.

Holborn Enabling Works - South Shields

The Holborn Enabling Works project comprises land clearance, remediation, bulk earthworks and maritime works specifically to construct a level development platform for subsequent development by a third party. The following elements are envisaged:— bulk excavations,— vegetation clearance,— fly tipping/asbestos clearance,— maritime works incorporating the demolition of redundant riverside structures and the construction of new sheet pile and combi pile river walls,— temporary works (e.g. cofferdam),— permanent works to block off a disused graving dock (e.g. concrete retaining structure),— dock inspection and repair,— treatment of in-situ silts,— dock infilling with as-dug material from elsewhere on site,— sealing,— remediation,— ground obstruction removal,— in-situ treatment and off site disposal of contaminated soils,— capping/hoarding,— utility isolations.The works will be subject to the client obtaining the necessary permissions and consents and are envisaged to be procured during late Summer/Autumn 2020.
